Not dead,
Hi y'all. Just writing to say hello, i know it has been a long time since we have done that. We are out here in Georgia, furiously writing away at what will be our first record. Just finished three new demos today, and i must say they sound quite mighty. Thanks for being faithful and continuing to check the site even when we aren't posting new stuff all the time. We will try and be better about that. Be excellent to one another, and we will talk soon.

Update

Hello there my friends. I know it has been forever since we have put something new up on the site and I know we have not been answering everyone's messages. I wanted to give you an update in hopes that we will be forgiven. Originally Sean and I hoped we would be making a record this summer so we could be out touring before the year ends. Unfortunately it doesn't look like that is in the cards right now. The last few months have been kind of hectic being on seperate sides of the country, but starting this week Sean will be staying in Georgia with me for the summer so we can really dig in and write the record. We are still setting the goal to record an album before the year is over and feel confident that we will. We have debated over whether or not to take down the site and relaunch when we are actually ready to get out and play and give you a full record of music but I don't think we need to do all that. I just ask that everyone hang in there if the site is dormant for a while. It could be that we launched it a bit too early but I promise when we are fully up and running we will flood the site with music and video and message replies. The fact that we already have so many people supporting us despite the fact that we have never even played a note live is just amazing and we hope you guys understand. As soon as we have news you will be the first to know. Thanks.

Acoustic Show September 30th at Utah State University
Hey everybody! Got some good news... Ryan, Sean and myself are coming to Logan, UT on September 30th, 2008, for an acoustic performance. We will be playing songs from all of the records and we haven't played a show in a few months so we are really looking forward to it! The show will be at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on the campus of Utah State University. Doors are at 6:00pm and show starts at 6:30pm. Tickets will be available September 1st, and as soon as we have the link for purchase we will post it here. Hope to see all of our fans in Utah at the show!

Paper Walls

July 17th, how this date was waited for we all fans of Yellowcard 1 year ago. It was the day which the new album would come to the stores and finally we would be able to listen to the songs the guys worked so hard.

And it doesn't seem like it has been 1 year, don't you think so? The time goes by so fast [elderly people talking ON] xD

Even tough it's the best album in the opinion of most part of the fans, and it really is a CD to listen forever, Paper Walls didn't reach what we had imagine since the release. The label released only one single, Light Up The Sky, which had its video and also was included in marketing campaigns, for example for the series Heroes new season. However the song didn't reach hit paredes.
Everybody beted that a second single, maybe for Keeper, would make the album be a great sucess, that didn't happen. Recently the band annouced a hiatus and probably Paper Walls will be not "used" anymore.

However it's an exceptional album!
The collection of songs was chosen veryyy well, with a mix of rocking guitars, touching lyrics and the best of Yellowcard: its unique and catching energy.
Besides the artwork developed to the CD, super creative wich is by the way theme of our beautiful site. ;)

Congratulations Paper Walls, let's listen to it a lot today sipping a cold Coke! ;)

Hello friends, fans and curious people!
How are you doing?
I hope it's ok! :)

Today is very special for us, the team.
Actually it's special for everybody, but it's specially special for the team because this date marks part of our lives.

Today our beloved site completes 1 year online. 1 year of dedication, hard work and mainly joy for sharing with you guys something that brings us a great happiness. We've been here for 1 year, almost daily, sharing everything we know and everything we can find about this band that is part of our lives.

Today, this text is to congratulate all those who have helped us with the site, my collegues of work (guys, you rock! ;D) and you all, who make this site happen, sending the comments, doubts and suggestions. Without you, our effort wouldn't worth and it would't make sense.

So I'm here saying THANK YOU VERY MUCH for making our dream happen and CONGRATULATIONS for all of us, team, fan-club members and users, for the first year of many anniversaries that will come of our "baby".

And that we'll be able to see Ryan and the guys and the songs that don't get out of our minds again soon. Congratulations team, congratulations fan-club, congratulations everybody.

Where We Stand at the end of September

Looks like the original Yellowcard line up will be playing in Northeast Florida in a few months!

With the enormous response that has been going around Where We Stand has decided to do a few shows in Northeast Florida at the end of September. All of the details are now being confirmed and we will have the dates up as soon as the come in. Dont forget we have now released the first recording of this line up "Midgit Tossing" for only $5!!!

Two sources we found say different things. :S

The first news comes from the brazilian site CineClick.

Let me light up something: when you read "...with one of the american porn actresses, Jenna Jamson" and have an attack yelling "Yellowcard or Ryan (lol) on a movie like this?! :O

Calm down. :)

Jenna Jameson left the porn films to become a normal actress...lol
I say this because I watch E! and I'm not a fan of this kind of movie (I had to say that in case there was some doubts). :)

Returning to the news...
This site says that the band will have a participation on the movie.
The site IMDB is saying that just Ryan will participate, being himself on the movie.

We don't know which is right.

Anyway, we'll let you know if we get any new! :D

Yay, finally it was published a video from the last Yellowcard show at Indianopolis Motor Speedway.

Besides the song Ocean Avenue (with the noise of cars in the background), at the end of the video there are some moments where Ryan is talking to the crowd and he's having some problems with the microphone.

A big Yellowcard fan, Meggles, has posted on the official forum a project that's really cool, elaborated by her called ""Project Paint The Town Yellow: One For The Band".

Basically the objective is do not let the people forget the band and show everybody that Yellowcard fans are the best in the world and will be there always supporting them. And also do a tribute for all these years of success, after all Yellowcard is somehow part of each one who's reading this.

It's a great project, completely made by fans, including audios of your opinion about the indefinite hiatus, videos of you telling your story, several montages, website for the project, etc.

"Where We Stand" Reunion Show

Among several questions, we selected the more importants:

So after this tour, are you going to be going out on another tour in the near future?

Right now we’re kind of labeling it like as an indefinite… We’re kind of having a break for a little bit. We’ve been touring for a long time and we don’t know what’s going on with the record label. I think Ryan’s going to move back east, so we’re all just going to take a little bit of a break.

Paper Walls came out last summer. I loved it. I thought it was one of the best records from last year and it should have been huge, but it didn’t really go anywhere. Why do you think that is?

(Laughs.) I don’t know. They’re all theories really. Part of it’s right place, right time. Part of it’s songs. Part of it’s other bands and their songs and whatever. I mean you look at who’s out there and there is musical talent involved, but it’s not like when you’re racing cars or when you’re playing basketball. At the end of the game, there’s a score. This is the better team or the better person or whatever. In music, it’s all subjective. Last year Paramore was fantastic. That girl can sing lights out, they’re young kids and they’re nice guys. I can’t say like we sing better than them or our song is better. It’s all subjective. The powers that be, or the mob and the masses, didn’t take to us as many people took to other artists.

That's the end of Paper Walls tour

It's going to happen today at Indianopolis Motor Speedway, Indiana, the last show of the Paper Walls tour.
According to site of the event it's scheduled an 1-hour Yellowcard performace on Coca-Cola Zero stage. The show will start at 5pm (brazilian time).

Josh, an Yellowcard fan, had the idea of creating a new space to preserve the Underdogs group. After all, the actual forum that belongs to Capitol can disappear anytime, because of all the change that the label and the artists are going through, mainly Yellowcard that announced recently a hiatus.

Zach Fraser: I know you guys are from Jacksonville and you moved to California and obviously you're in Tampa, so I have to ask. What is it California or Florida?

Ryan Key: Weird, it's kind of like, changing as I get older. Florida now, but we moved to California for a lot of reasons. I mean our first record deal we signed was with a really small label company in Santa Barbara, CA. The guy that owned the label was the guy that worked there. So we sort of felt like we were working pretty hands on, you know, when it comes to the work and the band. So we felt like we should be there and help. Long story short, I also made some friends with a bunch of guys that live in that area while I was in another band in California, which was my second trip out with a band. So, Yellowcard was actually my second band. So, that's kind of why we went out there and then it ended up working out. So we stayed, you know what I mean. So, I kind of enjoyed going home to see my family and kicking back a little bit in Florida.

ZF: I saw you guys in Warped Tour in Georgia this summer and obviously Warped Tour is a big arena. How does it feel to be able to play smaller venues and get back with your fans?

RK: I mean its amazing, dude. You know it's funny. I feel like I would be lying if I said we chose to go play small venues, because we are not selling as much tickets as we used to sell. But in a way that affords me the opportunity to get back to that intimacy which is honestly a very nice, unexpected thing about selling less tickets, you kind of forget what that's like but it is kind of amazing to get back to it. And then combine it with doing it in an acoustic setting. It has really been one of, if not the best tours I have ever been on. I mean we had so much fun. You really just get to hang out with people on the show and on stage. It doesn't have to be quite as structured as far as the songs go on one after the other and how one song goes into another song. It's a little more free. I think the fans have really responded well to it and I'm glad we did it.

ZF: How does it feel to be able to watch, Spill Canvas, Play Radio Play, those are some up and coming bands, if not the best?

RK: I mean obviously Spill Canvas, they're really doing well. I think they are about to go on the proverbial run to the top. I mean, the single they are going to put out next, is just amazing. They are just so talented for how young they are. It's cool they are from South Dakota. Like, who is from South Dakota?

ZF: As this tour is wrapping up, what are your plans for the rest of the year?

RK: You know, you are the first person that has ever asked that in an interview. That's kind of weird. I have to finally answer it. We really don't have any plans. We are calling it an "Indefinite Hiatus." After this tour, so, I don't know. It could be a year, 10 years, or 6 months. It's been an interesting time in this business and our record label. It's just. We kind of need a break. I think it appears everything is ok on its surface but we definitely need a little bit of time to figure out our personal lives. It doesn't have anything to do with turmoil in the band. It's more of a, facing adulthood now, and we can't stay in Neverland forever. You know what I mean. I think we just need a break. Hopefully we will get back to making another record sometime, if not it may be our last but we don't really know. We're just keeping the door open.

ZF: So how's it been, a lot of kids listen to the music and they look at you guys. How's does it feel to be that guy that, to be able to live the dream that most people want?

RK: I mean it's amazing dude. I set out to do this and I kind of told myself that there is no way that I was going to stop. There was nobody that was going to tell me that we couldn't do it at the level that we have done it. Having that mentality is the way you do it is when one day you just wake up and realize your there. I mean, I really think this tour has been one of the most influential times of my life in the band. Even though it is sort of the last tour for a long time. Just playing the songs that we have, stripped down, proves to you what a lot of your work is worth to people. You really get to see that you do kind of move people in a way. It's a good feeling. I'm really grateful for everything that we have done. Mistakes and triumphs, I don't have any regrets, I have learned from every single thing we have done the whole way. We have been touring now for eight years now without a break. We stopped to make a record and that's about it. So we learned a lot along the way. You know, I think we have helped a lot of people and changed a lot of people's lives in a good way. That's the stuff you take with you.

ZF: We mentioned Spill Canvas earlier and you think they're about to blow up. So what kind of bands are you listening to now a days?

RK: I don't really listen to, music in the scene, so to speak. I have been listening to a lot of country music, but not like the music they play on the radio. Like Ryan Adams, Ryan Adams with an "R." Yeah, People are always like "really you listen to Bryan Adams." No, Ryan Adams. I always enjoyed that style. I grew up listening to, not listening to, but growing up in that southern style a lot of Jimmy Buffet a lot of Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson. My grandpa is a huge Willie Nelson fan. So I was always around that style of music but it wasn't until a couple or years ago that I really discovered it for myself. So I have been diving way back in the Ryan Adams catalog, the old Whisky 500s, all that stuff. I am also into to another country artist named Gillian Welch, she does like really old 20s and 30s, kind a real front porch bang your foot on the floor country music. I love it. After the new Foo Fighters album came out, that was probably the last really big rock record that I really got obsessed with. But the new Weezer record is coming on June 24 and I am sure I will be the first in line to pick that up. I think Ben Folds is working on a record that should come out some point this year. I'm excited for that. He's like my all time favorite song writer and I have never seen him live. I talked to him on the phone once for about two hours for an interview, but I have never met him in person or see him play. Some day I hope. Hopefully when we take some time off I'll be able see his shows.

ZF: You mentioned indefinite hiatus, eight years touring, is there any city in particular you'll look back on and say. "Wow, that was a bunch of great choices to go play."

RK: Yeah for sure man, even down to specific shows and experiences, we took our first trip to South America two years ago right before we started working on Paper Walls. We had never been down there, but apparently our band is massive down there. I mean we didn't really know. We knew our shows were great, but we didn't know at what level. And in August (2006), we went and did our first tour. We went to cities in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. The shows were like 5...6,000 people a night. They asked us to come back immediately to play with Fall Out Boy in the festival and 46,000 people showed up to this festival in Sao Paolo, Brazil. I mean we have played these festivals before and it feels like, ok, we are playing the festival and the kids in the front row know your music. But this was like 46,000 people coming to a Yellowcard concert. It was absolutely insane. Fall Out Boy too. As much as Fall Out Boy has blown up here over the last couple of years it was like we were back both on an even keel and co-headlining the show together. It was really awesome, so South America, out of the touring we did was probably the most breath taking experience being on stage with the sheer number of people coming to the show was just mind blowing.

ZF: What are you looking for tonight, UT 5...6,000 students? There has been a lot of buzz around campus about the first major concert. What do you expect out of it?

RK: I hope everyone likes it. I know it's not a full show and I don't want people coming out thinking that it is. It's just like a couple of weeks on the tour even, it took a couple of weeks, before it got on the internet saying, 'we didn't know it was going to be that way.' Everyone seems to enjoy it anyway. I just hope that everyone out there is going to have a good time tonight!

Yellowcard in a indefined hiatus

The lead singer of Yellowcard, Ryan Key, said in an interview to The Minaret that the band will really go to an indefined hiatus after the end of current tour.

Even tough it can sound as unpleasent news for the fans, key denied there are problems with the band and affirmed that this is natural

Yellowcard joining couples?!

I'm sure this spring acoustic tour has been special for a lot of people, after all it's a unique opportunity to see Yellowcard playing rare musics in a special version!

More special was the show on this March 26, at Beta Bar in Florida, for Jennyfer, an american girl who was there to have some fun and left the place engaged!
The "guilty"? Our dear Ryan Key!

At the end of the show, he asked attention and said that he wanted to announce something:
"Is Jennyfer here with Ryan?" (coincidence or not, Jen's boyfriend is called Ryan too)
She raised the hand, the spotlight went to the couple and Ryan said:
"Ryan wants to know... will you marry him?"

Imagine the surprise! To receive a marriage proposal listening to the perfect soundtrack!!!

Jennyfer is suuuuuper happy and the marriage is already scheduled!

After all the rumours about the end of the band, Yellowcard is rocking on the new acoustic tour!
They're playing a lot of songs off One for the Kids, it's being crazyyy!!! The videos we're publishing here are just perfect! *-*

And this week the site DetroitFreePass published an interview with Ryan, the interviewer was Erin Podolsky. Very interesting, read:

Is the band roster different than usual for this tour?
Since the tour's acoustic, it's just going to be Sean Mackin, our violinist; guitarist Ryan Mendez and myself. And then we've hired a cello player - or cellist I guess you would call it. So we're just going over the stuff because we're playing it a little differently than we usually do. And we're also playing quite a few old songs off our first record, "One for the Kids," that we haven't played in probably three or four years. So they need some rehearsing.

What prompted you to do a lo-fi tour this time out?

(Drummer) Longineu Parsons had some stuff going on, and we didn't want to not tour. And we're not going to tour with another drummer, so we wanted to give him the time he needed and we figured it was a good opportunity to do this, something we've always wanted to do. It's kind of nice. It gives it more of the string section feeling, which is a lot like it is on the actual record, so it's good. And our fans have always wanted to see us in this sort of setting, so we just thought, why not throw it together and do it acoustic like this. We're pretty excited about it.

You've done a lot now with MySpace and iTunes. Why?

MySpace is something that while we were making our second record for Capitol, it sort of exploded on the music scene. We were so focused on making that record that we kind of missed the MySpace boat when it sailed. So we spent a lot of time getting ready for "Paper Walls" working on MySpace and answering messages. We did a series of Webisodes leading up to ("Paper Walls") letting the fans into the studio with us and that was really fun for both us and them. We've tried to catch up the best we can. iTunes is what it is, and I want to say at least people are buying music again somewhat. Doing the record, it was a cool thing; it's a new concept of releasing these digital-only albums. It's cool to be a part of it. I'm not exactly sure that's what the new medium of record sales is going to be, but it's cool to stay on the forefront of whatever that is going to be.

Do you have an iPod?

I do have an iPod. I have LimeWire on my computer but only because there was a song that I could not find on iTunes.

I've downloaded one song illegally probably in the last eight years! When Napster came out, we all did it for like five seconds, but then when we realized what it was doing, we as musicians said, "We should probably not do this." But a couple of months ago, I was looking for this certain song, and I couldn't find it. I'll admit my guilt in doing that. It was actually this Tracy Chapman song that a girlfriend of mine and I were into in high school; it was like this epic breakup-I'll-wait-for-you song called "The Promise." And I hadn't heard it, and we were talking about it, so I was like, "Oh I'm going to download that because I haven't listened to it since I was 16." But I couldn't find it, so I went on and illegally swapped it. Sorry, Tracy Chapman, like you care.

regarding the lp band thread, i havent read through it yet but i assume its people freaking out because lp is playing in a local side project band in jacksonville. oh my god!!!!!!!

sorry i havent been on much lately, we have been busy getting ready for the tour. i think you all are going to love it, rehearsal sounded awesome with the cello. ill be on a lot more now that we are on the road, im usually online a lot less at home.

No one knows where the rumour about the end of the band came from.
And other rumours must come. >.<
I recommend you don't take anything seriously.
Some can be real but we'll only know the truth if one of the members speak.
I also recommend you visit the official forum because Mendez is always there answering questions and doubts of everybody, he can answer yours! :D

The Spill Canvas

Lead by the guitarist Nick Thomas, The Spill Canvas is (according to the site SPLENDID) the best pop-punk band of South Dakota. Their influences are Saves the Day, Further Seems Forever, Copeland, Maroon 5, John Mayer, Ben Lee, Atmosphere and Killswitch Engage. The talented guitarist Nick also plays piano and bass. Besides he wrote and produced his first album, Sunsets and Car Crashes. The other members are Joe Beck (drums), Scott McGuire (bass) and Dan Ludeman (guitarrs).

He's a barman in a farewell party for one of the main actors who lives in New York and is moving for Japan. The friends record all the last night of their friend (the movie is all shot under the context of a personal hand-held camera).. and they're really happy until the lights are turned off and something really weird happens on the city... there's a monster!

Calm down! Yellowcard didn't forget Paper Walls (that's impossible, right? :P), but as Ryan said, they're going to release a new album live and there are already tour dates!

"Live From Las Vegas At the Palms" was recorded in last October, it has 10 tracks and will be available on iTunes next 22. Wow, fast!

The songs are:

After almost two months with no blogs... Ryan showed up!!
He commented the shows in Kuwait, what he'd like to do there and how was everything.

This past week has been quite an experience. Sean, Mendez, and myself travelled to the Middle East to perform for our service men and women stationed there. It was 19 hours of flying each way and we just got back today. While we were there we had been scheduled to play in Kuwait the first day and then head north into Iraq for the rest of the trip. At the last minute the President came in after his visit to Israel which made it impossible to get a flight north. All of the resources there were being used for security. So we made some changes and ended up playing the bases in and around Kuwait instead. Even though we didn't get to be in Iraq and fire machine guns out of the sides of helicopters and drive tanks(which were just a couple of the things we were hoping to do), it was still an amazing trip for the three of us. We played the shows acoustic which gave us the chance to really hang out with the troops during the show. We really felt like we were bringing a piece of home to them and could tell how grateful they were to spend some time away from their normal routine. We have never held our tongues when it came to our feelings about the war in Iraq, however we have always said that although we may not support the entire mission, we will always support the men and women who are there. We would like to thank everyone there that came to the shows and especially those that took care of us while we were there. It was something we will remember for as long as we live. We wish only for everyone there to return home safe.

Germany, Austria, Swiss shows postponed

Hello everyone. I have some unfortunate news. We have been planning on coming to Germany, Austria and Switzerland for a tour in January and were very excited about it. Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone the dates indefinitely. LP is very close with his Grandmother who raised him in Jacksonville, FL and her health is failing. He has asked us if he could take some time to be home with her over these next couple of months. We of course support him and know that this is a difficult time for him and his family. The tickets for the shows are fully refundable and we will let everyone know as soon as we have any information regarding the rescheduling of the tour. I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too much and we look forward to making this tour happen as soon as possible. Thank you.

I heard today that Casey Calvert from Hawthorne Heights passed away in his sleep last night. I certainly don't have the right words to say. We were fortunate enough to have the chance to play with him and I remember nothing but smiles when he was around at shows. I am not very good friends with the guys personally but I cannot imagine what they are going through right now. Our thoughts are with them and I am sure they could use some friendly words on their myspace page. Such sad news.

family of friends....

"happy thanksgiving!! its funny that we arrived in japan on an american holiday. a day that is usually spent watching football and pigging out on old family recipes, hanging with the folks and all nearby friends, and taking food induced naps, we here at yellowcard spent most of the day travelling. and after our 14 hour travel day was over, we all got together and had a nice italian dinner! i had the bolognese and shared a small pep pizza with lp. it was pretty good too. i have been to japan three times in the last six months, and everything is starting to look really familiar. its a pretty awesome place, one of my favorites in the whole world. but i do kinda miss my family and loved ones today. im just really lucky i travel with my other family. the people i have lived with for the past 8 years. and it was really nice to just sit down and have dinner as a family. that is what holidays are all about, being with your family. so have a safe holiday, and please, for the love of God, eat a piece of pumpkin pie for me." sean

Yellowcard into new technology

In an interview this Thrusday, 15, to the site Yahoo Tech, especialized in technology, the violinist Sean Mackin announced that the song "Fighting", from Paper Walls is in the soundtrack for the american football video game "Madden 08"

"Xbox and Microsoft have always been really kind to Yellowcard, and we have a really strong relationship with EA Games. Madden 08 came out, and one of our new songs from our new album 'Paper Walls' is on there.", said Sean.

The game has already sold more than 4,5 milion copies and is available for XBOX 360, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and PC.

That's a great way of promoting the band, since a lot of people become fans after hearing some song while they're playing them favorite game!

Sean also said he doesn't like text messages and would rather use a phone, revealed that he's never illegally downloaded music, does not use his iPod to watch videos, and the most extravagant piece of tech he's ever bought was a 60-inch LCD TV with HD, it was a Christmas present he gave to himself!!!

"We are in Tulsa, OK for a day off. Last night we played a show in nashville in this cool little bar for about 75 people. It was amazing. We all just had fun and hung out with everyone at the show. You forget how much fun those little bars can be when youve been in a tour bus for 4 years. It was awesome.

Mendez and I went to see the new Robert Redford (who is one of my all time favortite actors by the way) film, Lions for Lambs. It was stunning. If you are having a bad day don't go see it because it is really heavy. It was perfectly acted in my opinion.

The Blue October tour is over in two days. Hard to believe we have been out with them for 8 weeks. Thanks to everyone who has come to the shows. It has really been a fun tour for all of us. Now its off to Japan to play with Linkin Park. We are so excited. The shows are going to be massive."
